A part-time job was an important chance for me to earn money and think about my future. I had worked at about 10 part-time jobs and as intern in Shanghai and now I am an intern at GS retail’s H&B beauty Watsons. I did not just study language when I went to China and to other countries when I was in senior in the second semester. I have traveled around 13 Chinese cities and experience different kinds of food and culture, and now I am able to tell the different between south and north accents of china.

On weekends I attended Korean, Chinese, and Japanese language programs; I practiced my language skills and listened to thoughts from my friends from other countries. Moreover, I did a volunteer activity – attending classes on culture. I also worked in the sewing industry in Shanghai as an intern. Most of the communication was done in Chinese and the paper was written in English. So, I listened to language classes in the morning and worked as an intern in the afternoon; after dinner, I played with my Chinese friends and on weekends I participated to volunteer activities. I had a very busy life.

But I was not sure what I wanted to do. I was going to work at a travel agency because I simply like traveling, but I decided to work at a trading company as an intern because I wanted to know the process of trading. It was not easy to do both study and work as an intern. When I was first working I was tired with the repetitive nature of the work. Also, even though I knew how to speak Chinese, I only learned the language for about a year, so it was very hard for me to translate Chinese documents into Korean with its professional terminology. But, after thinking about it for a while, I think it made me stronger and I now have a big picture of Chinese companies, culture and their trading system.

After about a year and a half in China I came back to Korea with a promise to make to my life successful. But in Korea, I had to listen to classes and get ready for tests while writing a résumé. At that time I was very depressed because I had to do all these things at once. When vacation came, I worked at a distribution company for two months, and then applied to three major companies in Korea. I got accepted at GS retail Watsons as an intern. After working in different part-time jobs and as an intern I found out that I like communicating with people, not just sitting behind a desk. It has only been one month since I worked and there were many challenges, but I am working happily. I am developing as I hear customers’ complain, monitoring levels of sales as well as thinking of ways to provide a better service to customers. I want to do a lot of things, I will not stop trying and I look forward to building a successful career. To every youthful people, fight!
